These are old-school quality Kashmiri crewel embroidered pieces with around 75 grams of wool yarn embroidered per square feet (55-60 grams is the stadard today)

What is the Kashmiri Crewel / Chain Stitch?
Chain Stitch embroidery also known as crewel embroidery (Aari Kaem) is enchanting ancient craft of Kashmir with a documented history dating back to around 1st Century BC. The Kashmiri crewel craft was refined in the centuries post 1500s until it found its ways to homes and hotels across the western world by the 1950s.
Today in 2022, Jos and Fine is one of the few crewel manufacturers that still produces crewel in finish levels of the 1950s-1980s - quality that is very rarely seen now.
